Where patients choose to receive medical care today is changing rapidly. Clinics and medical centers are responding by opening up where the patients want to be – typically commercial areas with easy access and more welcoming spaces.

Alivio Medical Center is no exception and acted to meet that need head on. The challenge was to undertake a design that could accommodate many critical program functions under one roof – including comprehensive ambulatory care, family medicine, prenatal services, dental care and mental health services – while still creating inviting and functional spaces. Alivio charged WGA with redesigning an existing 13,000 square-foot commercial building into an open and inviting two-story, primary healthcare clinic.

WGA took advantage of the commercial street on which the building was situated and turned a tired street corner into an active street front near downtown Berwyn. WGA worked with the client to create vibrant, light-filled spaces, and a welcoming environment for both patients and staff.
